Puritans
The Puritans were a group of Christians who believed in worshipping Jesus in a more simple way. Under King James I of England, Puritanism was outlawed.
This led many Puritans to move out to the new land of America where they could practice their beliefs in peace.
The Puritans started many colonies including Providence, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Puritan ideas would influence the Declaration of Independence and Constitution many years later.
