The Axis Powers of World War II

The original Axis Powers, nicknamed the Pact of Steel, were Italy and Germany in 1939. Then a year later they welcomed Japan to their alliance by signing the Tripartite Pact.

All three had interests in expansion, domination, and an overall new order in Europe and East Asia. These countries joined forces also to intimidate and scare the Allies, which was a grave mistake!

Though they promised each other help during the war, these three friends lacked trust and coordination.
